The Louisville Fire were an arena football team from Louisville, Kentucky that played in af2 . The Fire played their home games in Freedom Hall .
history
The Fire were founded in 2001 and started playing in af2 . In their eight seasons, the Fire reached the playoffs four times. The highlight of the franchise was the entry into the ArenaCup 2005. This one lost, however, 41:63 against the Memphis Xplorers .
The average attendance was 8,348 per home game over all years, a remarkable figure for af2 conditions.
In July 2007 it was announced that owner Will Wolford was planning to sell 500 shares of the franchise at $ 1000 each. In any case, he himself kept 10% of the shares. The aim was to sell at least 3,500 season tickets. If the goal should be achieved, he wants to buy back the shares afterwards. With the higher sales of season tickets, he wanted to preserve the chance to participate in the financially more lucrative Arena Football League (AFL) in two years .
At the end of the 2008 season, however, the Fire broke up.
