The  Florida Firecats  were an  arena football team in Estero, Florida that played in af2 . The Firecats played their home games in the Germain Arena .

history

The Firecats were founded in 2001 and started until their withdrawal in 2009 in the af2 , the minor league of the Arena Football League (AFL). They made it through to the playoffs seven times and won the ArenaCup , the af2 final, in 2004.

2001-2009 season (af2)

In 2002 they reached the playoffs for the first time in the club's history and immediately moved into the ArenaCup final, but lost it with 65-47 against the Peoria Pirates .

After they were eliminated in the first play-of-round in 2003, they celebrated their first title in club history in 2004 when they met the Peoria Pirates again , but this time they won 39:26.

Up to and including 2008, the Firecats qualified for the finals every time, but they were not allowed to participate in the finals again.

In the 2009 season they missed the playoffs for the first time since 2001 with 7 wins and 9 losses.

After af2 disbanded in 2009, many franchises switched to other leagues. The Firecats have not joined any other arena football league and have not been dissolved to this day. According to the official homepage, the Firecats took part in a flag football league in 2004 .

Most spectators came with 7,181 spectators on April 14, 2001 against the Augusta Stallions .

Stadion

The Firecats played their home games in the Germain Arena , a 7,186-seat multi-purpose arena in Estero, Florida . Today mainly the Florida Everblades from the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) play their home games there.
