The 1968 NFL season was the 49th season of American football in the National Football League (NFL), which at the time, along with the American Football League (AFL), was the top football league in the United States . The regular season began on September 14, 1968 and ended three months later, on December 15, 1968.

For the 1968 season, the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints changed division in the Eastern Conference.

In the NFL Championship Game , the Baltimore Colts defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-0. The Super Bowl III was held on 12 January 1968th The New York Jets , champions of the American Football League, defeated the Colts 16-7.

Play-offs

The play-offs took place from December 21, 1968 to January 12, 1969. The winners of the four divisions competed against each other. The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers defeated their opponents in the Conference Championship Games and competed against each other on December 31st. The Packers won the game with 21:17 and became champions of the NFL.

Super Bowl III

Super Bowl III took place on January 12, 1969 at the Orange Bowl in Miami , Florida . The NFL champions, the Baltimore Colts team, competed against the AFL champions, the New York Jets . The jets defeated the Colts with 16: 7, to the Super Bowl MVP was Namath selected.

Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl was held on January 19, 1969 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum between the Eastern and Western Conference. The Western Conference team won 10-7. Quarterback Roman Gabriel and defensive tackle Merlin Olsen , both from the Los Angeles Rams , were elected to the Most Valuable Players of the Pro Bowl .
