The 1940 NFL season was the National Football League's 21st season . The Chicago Bears emerged as the winner of this season .
Changes
Named to the 1940 season Art Rooney , the Pittsburgh Pirates in Pittsburgh Steelers to. In December 1940, he sold the franchise to Alexis Thompson and acquired half of the Philadelphia Eagles himself . Before the start of the next season, Rooney and Thompson swapped the venues and NFL rights of the two teams. Thus from 1941 onwards the Eagles became the Steelers and the Steelers became the Eagles.
