The 1977 NFL season was the 58th season in American football in the National Football League (NFL). The regular season began on September 18, 1977 and ended on December 18, 1977. The season ended with the Pro Bowl on January 23 at Tampa Stadium in Tampa Bay , Florida .

It was the last regular season with 14 games. The regular season was expanded to 16 games in 1978, the number of games was reduced from 6 to 4 games in the preseason.

Regular season

After their introductory year, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved from AFC West to NFC Central and the Seattle Seahawks from NFC West to AFC West.

Super Bowl XII

The 12th Super Bowl took place on January 15, 1978 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans , Louisiana . In the finals, the Dallas Cowboys met the Denver Broncos , the Dallas Cowboys won their second Super Bowl .
