The NFL season in 1928 was the ninth season of American Football League National Football League (NFL). The Providence Steam Rollers became champions of the league .
The Cleveland Bulldogs and Duluth Eskimos had to cease operations before the start of the season. The Buffalo bison had to suspend a competition season for financial reasons. The new Detroit Wolverines team was bought and discontinued by New York Giants owner Tim Mara at the end of the season .
