The 1957 NFL Championship Game took place on December 29, 1957 at Briggs Stadium in Detroit , Michigan . The winners of the Eastern and Western divisions competed against each other. The winner of the Western Division was determined in a play-off game a week earlier. The Detroit Lions defeated the San Francisco 49ers after a temporary 7:27 deficit with 31:27.

Records

102,368 spectators saw the game of the Rams against the 49ers on November 22, 1957, which set a record for spectators in a regular season game. That record was only broken on October 2, 2005, when 103,467 spectators watched the game between the 49ers and Cardinals at the Aztec Stadium .
