The NFL season in 1931 was the twelfth season of American Football League National Football League (NFL). The Green Bay Packers won the championship for the third time in a row.
Due to the global economic crisis, only ten teams competed. The Frankford Yellow Jackets had to stop playing during the season due to a lack of funds. The Minneapolis Red Jackets and the Newark Tornadoes could not even start playing.
As a new team, the Cleveland Indians (with the Newark Tornadoes franchise) took part in the competition.
