The 1989 NFL season was the 70th season in American football in the National Football League (NFL). The regular season began on September 10, 1989 and ended on December 25, 1989. The season ended with the Pro Bowl on February 4, 1990 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu , Hawaii .

On October 26, 1989, Paul Tagliabue was appointed the new NFL commissioner.
