Monosynamma sabulicola is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae). Its species status is questioned by some authors who synonymize it with monosynamma bohemanni .

features

The bugs are 3.4 to 4.2 millimeters long. The genus Monosynamma includes bugs with a gray to gray-black base color. Your second antennae is much longer than the width of your head and the spurs of the splints ( tibia ) arise from black points. The species in this genus are very difficult to distinguish. Monosynamma sabulicola is on average the broadest species of the genus and has the longest antennae. Several individuals must therefore be compared for a reliable determination.

Occurrence and habitat

The species is common in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Austria. It has only been found locally and is not frequent. The banks of larger rivers are settled; in the south of England they are also found in dune valleys, damp heaths and gravel pits.

Way of life

The bugs live on narrow-leaved willow species ( Salix ) such as basket willow ( Salix viminalis ), white willow ( Salix alba ) and broken willow ( Salix fragilis ). In England it has also been found on creeping willow ( Salix repens ). The adult bugs can be seen from mid-June to August.
