The 1969 NFL season marked the 50th season of American football in the NFL , which at the time, along with the American Football League , was the top football league in the United States. The regular season began on September 21, 1969 and ended exactly three months later, on December 21, 1969.
The play-offs took place from December 28, 1969 to January 4, 1970. The winners of the four divisions competed against each other. The Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings defeated their opponents in the Conference Championship Games and competed against each other on January 4th. The game decided the Vikings for themselves and became the NFL champion of the current season.
