The 2007 NFL season was the 88th season of American football in the National Football League (NFL). The regular season started on September 6th and ended on December 30th, 2007.
In 2006 the team owners decided to host up to two games outside of the United States. The game of the New York Giants against the Miami Dolphins therefore took place on October 28, 2007 at Wembley Station. In return, it was decided to discontinue the NFL Europe after 15 seasons.
The New England Patriots won all regular season and play-off games. However, they lost 17:14 against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII .

Play-offs
The play-offs ran until January 20, 2008. The biggest surprise was the New York Giants with their successes over the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional Play-offs and in the NFC Championship Game , which are now wildcard Team reached the Super Bowl .

Super Bowl XLII

The Super Bowl XLII was on February 3, 2008 in Glendale , Arizona instead. The participating teams of the 42nd World Football Championship were the New York Giants and the New England Patriots , who made the Super Bowl for the fourth time in seven years (2002, 2004, 2005, 2008). From the previous three appearances, the Patriots emerged as winners three times (vs St. Louis Rams , 20:17; vs Carolina Panthers , 32:29; vs Philadelphia Eagles , 24:21). For the New York Giants, Super Bowl XLII was their first since 2001 (Super Bowl XXXV; vs Baltimore Ravens , 7:34) and the win was the first since Super Bowl XXV (1991). The New England Patriots had lost 11 years in the Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XXXI (1997) you were inferior to the Green Bay Packers with 21:35. In the 42-year history of the Super Bowl, there has not yet been a meeting between the two participating teams.
