Patrick L. Willis (* 25. January 1985 in Bruceton , Tennessee ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He played with the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL) until March 10, 2015 .

Patrick Willis was selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft as the eleventh player by the San Francisco 49ers . He plays in the inside linebacker position and in his first season set an (unofficial) record for most tackles in the regular season of the NFL. For these exceptional achievements, he was voted Defensive Rookie of the Year and the Pro Bowl .

Patrick Willis chose the number 52 because of his role model Ray Lewis of the Baltimore Ravens . On March 10, 2015, Willis announced his retirement from the NFL, citing a protracted toe injury.
