Khalil Mack (* 22 February 1991 in Fort Pierce , Florida ) is an American American football poker players on the position of Outside linebackers and defensive ends , who is currently with the Chicago Bears is under contract. He played college football for the University at Buffalo and was selected in the 2014 NFL Draft as the fifth player in the first round by the Oakland Raiders . He holds the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) record for most forced fumbles and most tackles for loss .

Early years

Mack attended Fort Pierce Westwood High School , where he initially focused on earning an athletic scholarship through basketball . However, after tearing his patellar tendon prior to his sophomore year, he was hired by the school football team coach, who promised his parents that he would still receive a scholarship through football. As a senior, Mack managed 140 tackles , including eight for loss of space, and nine sacks . As a newcomer to the sport, Rivals.com only rated him as a two-star talent. He ultimately received the promised scholarship from the State University of New York at Buffalo .

After his first year with the Buffalo Bulls, he was a regular in 2009 and already one of the best defenders in the Mid-American Conference . He recorded 68 tackles, including 14.5 for loss of yards , four and a half sacks, ten defended passes and two forced fumbles . A year later he was elected to the first team All-Mac and he got 20.5 tackles for loss of space, which was the third best value of all college players. In 2012 he achieved new personal bests in tackles (94), tackles for loss of space (21) and sacks (8) and was re-elected to the All-Conference-Team. After his 2013 senior season, the college's student magazine named him the best football player in Division I history for the Buffalo Bulls. He scored 100 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 19 tackles for yard loss, three interceptions and five forced fumbles in 13 games. He was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-American .

NFL

Prior to the 2014 NFL Draft , Mack was considered an early first round candidate. This was confirmed when he was selected as the fifth player by the Oakland Raiders .

After his rookie season, he had a good chance of being named AP Defensive Rookie of the Year . Ultimately, he finished in third place behind Aaron Donald of the St. Louis Rams and CJ Mosley of the Baltimore Ravens . However, he received this award from the experts at ESPN 's NFL Live .

Before the 2015 season, he moved from the linebacker position to the right defensive end . On Matchday 14, he got five sacks against the Denver Broncos , setting Howie Long's 1983 Raiders franchise record . That year he was elected to his first Pro Bowl . He was also the first player in NFL history to be named Associated Press All-Pro (DE / OLB) in two different positions .

Before the start of the 2018 season, Khalil Mack moved from the Oakland Raiders to the Chicago Bears for several draft picks, including first-round picks for 2019 and 2020 . He signed a contract for six years for 141 million US dollars , which made him the highest paid defender in the history of the NFL. In his first season with the Bears, Mack scored 12.5 sacks and 6 forced fumbles . The Chicago Bears moved into the play-offs with a record of 12 wins and 4 losses .
