Quintorris Lopez "Julio" Jones (born February 8, 1989 in Foley , Alabama ) is an American American football player in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Atlanta Falcons as a wide receiver and has been elected to the Pro Bowl seven times .

college

Julio Jones was born on February 8, 1989 in Foley, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama and played for their team, the Crimson Tide , for three years very successfully college football , scoring a total of 17 touchdowns . Marcell Dareus and Mark Ingram junior were among his teammates .

NFL

Jones was the first round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in the 2011 NFL Draft . To get the 6th pick and sign it, the Falcons exchanged the 26th, 59th and 124th pick as well as the first and fourth round pick next season to the Cleveland Browns . Jones thanked his team with consistently good performances. In his rookie season , he caught 959 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. In 2012, he had 1,198 yards and 10 touchdowns. In 2013, after only five games, he was out the rest of the season due to an injury. In 2014, he set a team record with 1,593 yards caught. In the game against the Green Bay Packers on December 8, 2014, he achieved his own personal best with a pass catch over 259 yards.

On 29 August 2015 he signed with the Falcons a new five-year contract for 71 million dollars , with $ 41 million guaranteed.

On October 2, 2016, he reached 300 yards after receiving passes in the game against the Carolina Panthers . After the season he reached the Super Bowl LI with the Falcons , which was lost 28:34 against the New England Patriots . In that game he caught four passes for 87 yards.

On November 26, 2017, he scored 253 yards with 13 catches in the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , making him the only active player to have played 3 games with more than 250 yards after receiving a pass. After this season he was nominated for the fifth time for the Pro Bowl .

In the 2018 season , in week 10 against the Cleveland Browns , he reached the 10,000-yard mark with 104 league games, the fastest in NFL history. His performances in the season led him to his sixth Pro Bowl participation. No other player has gained more space from trapped passes this season than Julio Jones (1,677).

Immediately before the Falcons kicked off the 2019 regular season , Jones and his franchise agreed on a new three-year contract worth $ 66 million with a signing bonus of $ 64 million, making him the best-paid wide receiver in the league.
