The 2017 Pro Bowl of the American Football League was the All-Star Game of the National Football League (NFL) in the 2016 season . It was played on January 29, 2017, a week before Super Bowl LI , at Camping World Stadium in Orlando , Florida . The teams were put together by Andy Reid and Jason Garrett .
background
Selection of the venue
Five locations were under discussion for hosting the Pro Bowl 2017, four of which submitted a formal application:
- Aloha Stadium in Hawaii , the venue for the Pro Bowl from 1980-2009, 2011-2014 and 2016.
- NRG Stadium in Houston , home of the Super Bowl LI .
- Camping World Stadium in Orlando .
- An unknown stage; probably the Sydney Football Stadium or Stadium Australia in Sydney , New South Wales , Australia . However, due to the large time difference, Sydney was only given few chances.
- Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil. The stadium, which was renovated for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics , has long been considered a potential venue, despite no official bid from Brazil.
On June 1, 2016, the NFL announced that the next three Pro Bowls will take place in Orlando.
Game format
On June 1, 2016, the NFL confirmed that the Pro Bowl in 2017 will be played again in the old format, based on a game between the two conferences.
