Zachary Edward Martin (* 20th November 1990 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Guards . He plays with the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL).
college
Martin, who was also a talented track and field athlete in high school , had offers from several universities, chose the University of Notre Dame and successfully played college football on the left tackle position for their team, the Fighting Irish . Between 2010 and 2013 he played a total of 52 games, all as a starter . Teammate was his younger brother Nick , who has been a center contract with the Houston Texans since 2016 .
NFL
In the NFL Draft 2014 he was selected in the 1st round as the 16th player by the Dallas Cowboys and was able to establish himself in this team immediately. Already in his rookie year he was the right starting guard in all games . It is an essential part of the extremely successful offensive line of the Cowboys, which consistently performs well and, thanks to its excellent block work, makes the successful running game of the different running backs possible in the first place. In 2014 DeMarco Murray , 2015 Darren McFadden and 2016 Ezekiel Elliott each ran more than 1000 yards .
So far, he has been called to the Pro Bowl after each of his four seasons . In 2017 the Cowboys extended his contract for another two years.
