Aaron Charles Donald (* 23. May 1991 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He plays for the Los Angeles Rams as a defensive tackle .

Donald were offered athletic scholarships from several universities. He chose the University of Pittsburgh and played college football for their team, the Panthers . He has received many awards for his outstanding performance in the defensive line .

In the 2014 NFL Draft , he was selected in the first round by the St. Louis Rams .
2014
He was used in all 16 games in his rookie season, in 12 of them as a starter . Even if the Rams disappointed and only finished last in NFC West , Donald himself showed excellent performance, which was rewarded with the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award and the appointment to the Pro Bowl .
2017
After the 2017 season , Donald was named Best Defender of the Season and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award .
2018
Shortly before the start of the regular season , Donald received a new six-year contract worth 135 million US dollars , 87 of which were guaranteed, by the Rams , making him the highest-paid defense player of all time for one day until he was replaced by Khalil Mack .
After the season, Donald was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press for the second year running.
