Lombardi Award
The Rotary Lombardi Award has been presented annually since 1970 to the college football player who has performed the best as a linebacker or as a player on the defensive line or offensive line . The award commemorates the coach Vince Lombardi , who died in 1970 and , among other things, was head coach of the Green Bay Packers and played guard American football at Fordham University .
choice
The choice of player will take place under the care of the Rotary Club of Houston . The members of a committee consisting of former football players, coaches, members of the Rotary Club and media representatives are eligible to vote. Members of the election committee include the award winners Dat Nguyen and Walt Patulski .
The player is honored with a trophy at the end of a game year in an event. The material used for this, granite , is supposed to be reminiscent of Lombardi's offensive line at Fordham University, which was called "7 Blocks of Granite" .
