Brian Ndubisi Orakpo (* 24. January 1984 in Houston , Texas ) is a former American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Washington Redskins and the Tennessee Titans as an outside linebacker .

college

Orakpo, the son of Nigerian immigrants, attended the University of Texas and played college football for their team, the Longhorns, with great success in various positions on the defensive line between 2005 and 2008 . He has been appointed to various national teams and has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Lombardi Award .

NFL

Washington Redskins

In the NFL Draft 2009 he was selected in the first round as the 13th player by the Washington Redskins and converted to linebacker. He was able to establish himself immediately and was used as a starter in all games in his rookie season , where he achieved 11.0 sacks . With the exception of the 2012 season, where he was only able to play two games due to injury, he was also successful as a pass rusher for his team in the following years . In the 2013 season he was even able to score a touchdown and was called to the Pro Bowl for the third time .

Tennessee Titans

In 2015 he moved to the Tennessee Titans . His new team immediately voted him one of the team captains of the defense . In 2016 he was again considered for the Pro Bowl.

Orakpo played 61 games for the Titans. At the end of 2018, he announced his retirement from active sports.
