Outland Trophy
The Outland Trophy is an award given annually in the US to the best college football player to play on the defensive line or on the offensive line .
The award commemorates former college football player and coach John H. Outland .

The winner is chosen by the members of the Football Writers Association of America . The election has been held since 1946. The winner will be honored in an annual event. He does not receive any cash prize. Winning the Outland Trophy increases the prestige and "market value" of a young player.

The award must not be confused with the Lombardi Award, which is presented annually . In addition to players on the defensive or offensive line, linebackers can also win this. However, the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award winners are often the same.
