Joseph Hayden Thomas (* 4. December 1984 in Brookfield , Wisconsin ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He played eleven seasons for the Cleveland Browns as an offensive tackle . In 2020 he was elected to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team .

college

Since Thomas showed great athletic talent both as a footballer and as a track and field athlete in high school , several universities offered him sports scholarships. He chose the University of Wisconsin – Madison . For their team, the Badgers, he played college football with great success between 2003 and 2006 . He was employed in various positions and received several awards.

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2007 he was selected in the 1st round as 3rd overall by the Cleveland Browns , where he was used from the start as a left offensive tackle . He has played at a consistently high level since his rookie season.

Not only has he been a starter in every Browns game since 2007 , he has also been nominated for the Pro Bowl every year . He is the only player in NFL history to have played over 10,000 consecutive plays on the field. Until his injury at the end of October 2017, he was able to increase his record to 10,363 snaps en suite. That season he also missed the Pro Bowl for the first time. After the season he announced his retirement.
