history

The spelling Schimpffenbach has been documented since 1480.

The history of Schimbach is largely identical to that of Reisen . Like Reisen, it belonged to Zent Waldmichelbach of the Electoral Palatinate and in 1803 came to the Landgraviate of Hesse , which in 1806 became part of the Grand Duchy of Hesse . In the course of the administrative reform of 1821, Schimbach was assigned to the mayor's office in Ober-Mumbach .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Schimbach in 1829:

»Schimbach (L. Bez. Lindenfels) Lutheran and Catholic Filialdorf; is 3 3 / 4 St. Linde Rock, belongs to the district of tearing, and has 4 houses and 52 inh., namely 31 Luth., 20 Kath. 1 and reform. In 1802 the place came from Churpfalz to Hesse. "

In the statistics of the Grand Duchy of Hesse, based on December 1867, four houses and 45 inhabitants are given for the hamlet of Schimbach. Schimbach is now assigned to the mayor's office in Reisen. In 1927 there were still 41 inhabitants.

Schimbach became part of the municipality of Birkenau on December 31, 1970 as part of the regional reform in Hesse . Since then, Schimbach has been part of the Reisen district and the local council and mayor is responsible for the hamlet .
