Gene Renard Atkins Jr. (* 28. March 1988 in Pembroke Pines , Florida ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles . He plays for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL). He is the son of Gene Atkins , who was under contract from 1987 to 1996 as safety with the New Orleans Saints and the Miami Dolphins .
college
Atkins, also a talented and successful athlete in his youth , attended the University of Georgia and played college football for their team, the Bulldogs, between 2006 and 2009 , scoring a total of 120 tackles and 11 sacks .
NFL
In the NFL Draft 2010 he was selected in the 4th round as a total of 120th player by the Cincinnati Bengals . Already in his rookie year he ran in all games; in the following season he established himself as a starter and was appointed to the Pro Bowl for the first time .
In 2013 he was only able to play nine games due to a torn cruciate ligament . Except for this season, he has been called to the Pro Bowl every year since 2011.
