LaShawn Maurkice Pouncey (* 24. July 1989 in Ardmore , Oklahoma ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the center . He plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Pouncey were offered sports scholarships from various universities, he chose the University of Florida and played college football for their team, the Gators , as the right-wing guard with great success . He won several championships with the team, was repeatedly awarded and accepted into various selection teams.

NFL

In the 2010 NFL Draft , he was selected in the 1st round as a total of 18th by the Pittsburgh Steelers . He played as a starting center in his rookie season . In the AFC Championship Game , of all places , he suffered an injury and had to pass the Super Bowl XLV , which was lost to the Green Bay Packers . In the following two seasons he played 14 and 15 games for the Steelers, in 2013 he was only able to play once due to a severe knee ligament injury. 2014 he signed a five-year contract over 44 million US dollars . This makes Pouncey the highest-paid center in the league. So far he has been nominated six times for the Pro Bowl . After a scuffle in the Steelers game against the Cleveland Browns on Matchday 11 of the 2019 season , Pouncey was suspended for three games for kicking and kicking Myles Garrett .

Pauncey's twin brother Mike also plays in the NFL. He is currently under contract as a center with the Los Angeles Chargers .
