Earl Thomas III (* 7. May 1989 in Orange , Texas ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the safeties , the last for the Baltimore Ravens in the National Football League played (NFL). Thomas played college football at the University of Texas at Austin before being selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round as the 14th pick of the 2010 NFL Draft . Since then he has been elected to the Pro Bowl six times and won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks . He was a member of the Legion of Boom while with the Seahawks .

college

While Thomas had no appearances on the football team in his first year of college due to a ban from his university, he started in 2008 in the second year in each of his team's 13 games. He managed 63 tackles and prevented 17 passes that year . He also got two interceptions and he was able to force four fumbles .

He received another partial ban from the university in 2009 and managed at least 8 interceptions in the games he played.

When Thomas signed up for the NFL Draft in 2010, he was considered one of the best safeties in his college class.

NFL

Earl Thomas was selected as the 14th player in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round. He signed a $ 21.1 million (12.31 million guaranteed) contract on July 31, 2010 , which was set to run over five years.

In 2011 , his second NFL season, Thomas was the NFL player to allow the second fewest passes over 20 yards . He made 98 tackles and 2 interceptions that season and was elected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro for the first time . He was also 66th in the 2012 NFL Top 100 ranking.

In the 2012 season he made 66 tackles and 3 interceptions and was again elected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro. The choice he succeeded in the two following years, where he won the Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks in 2013 .

Thomas played in every single league game in the Seattle Seahawks from his 2010 to 2014 rookie season.

On April 28, 2014, Thomas signed a new four-year contract with the Seahawks to collect $ 40 million with a guaranteed $ 27.725 million.

On matchday 13 of the 2016 season , Thomas broke his shin in a game against the Carolina Panthers . On December 6, 2016, he was therefore placed on the Injured Reserve List .

On March 13, 2019, Thomas signed a four-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens for $ 55 million with a guaranteed salary of 32 million. After engaging in a fight during Training Camp 2020, Thomas was released from the Ravens.

Thomas has a daughter with his high school lover, whom he married in April 2016.
