Luke Michael Willson (born January 15, 1990 in LaSalle , Ontario ) is a Canadian American football player. He plays the tight end position for the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL).

Career

CFL

Willson was voted 32nd player in the 2012 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts . But he refused to play there because he preferred to play for an NFL team.

NFL

Willson was selected as the 158th player by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2013 NFL Draft . He played in every game of the 2013 season and scored his first touchdown against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14. Willson's rookie season ended by winning Super Bowl XLVIII . In this he caught two passes for a total of 17 yards .

For the 2014 season , he became a starter after week 3 because his predecessor, Zach Miller , was injured. This season he moved back to the Super Bowl, but lost it.

In the 2015 season he lost his starting position to the new signing Jimmy Graham . After he got injured, Willson got the starting position back. In week 16, Willson suffered a concussion, which meant that he was out the remainder of the regular season . On March 17, 2017 Willson signed a new one-year contract with a salary of 3 million US dollars for the Seahawks.

On March 21, 2018, Willson signed a one-year contract for $ 2.5 million with the Detroit Lions . Here, however, he only caught 15 passes for 87 yards and no touchdown, career lows. On March 29, 2019, the Oakland Raiders signed Willson. As part of the final roster cuts, he was released before the start of the season.

At the end of September 2019, he was signed again by the Seahawks.
