Derrick Lamont Coleman (* 18th October 1990 in Los Angeles , California ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the full backs . He last played for the Arizona Cardinals in the National Football League (NFL) and was previously under contract with the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons .

He is the first deaf offensive player and Super Bowl winner .

Career

college

Coleman attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he played college football for the UCLA Bruins as a running back . His first game was against Arizona State University in Week 3 . In week 6 he scored his first touchdown and in game 10 he was the first starter. In total, he ran 284 yards in his first season in college. In his second season he played in all games, but only once as a starter. He ran it 244 yards. In his penultimate season he played in 11 of 12 games, two times as a starter. He reached 487 yards and 5 touchdowns.

In his senior year he played in all 14 games as a running back, but also worked as a returner in the special teams , where he ran 765 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was honored with the Tommy Prothro Award for Outstanding Special Teams Player .

NFL

Minnesota Vikings

After Coleman was not selected in the 2012 NFL Draft , he received a contract with the Minnesota Vikings on April 28, 2012 , but was released in August.

Seattle Seahawks

In December 2012, Coleman was signed by the Seattle Seahawks . Then in week 1 of the 2013 season he made his first game, scoring 30 yards after three passes. He made his only fumble in the game against Tennessee on October 13th. On December 2, 2013, he then scored the first touchdown of his professional career. In February he achieved his greatest success to date with victory in Super Bowl XLVIII . In the 2013 season he was involved in 12 games, where he ran a total of 3 yards, caught 62 yards and scored a touchdown. In the following season he played 5 games, catching 2 passes, which he carried 14.5 yards each, one of them to a touchdown.

Atlanta Falcons

On March 21, 2017, Coleman signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons .

Arizona Cardinals

On May 10, 2018, the Arizona Cardinals signed him for a year.

Personal

Derrick Coleman has been deaf since he was three. In January 2014 he made a commercial for Duracell batteries . He is very religious and professes the Christian faith.

On October 15, 2015, he caused a traffic accident and subsequently committed a hit-and-run, after which the police took him into custody. He was initially suspended for this by the Seattle Seahawks, but the suspension was lifted on October 19, 2015.
