Byron Maxwell (* 23 February 1988 in North Charleston , South Carolina ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . He won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seattle Seahawks in the National Football League (NFL) .

college

Maxwell injured himself and tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his fourth year of college at Clemson University . He stayed on the football team and signed up for the 2011 NFL Draft .

NFL

Seattle Seahawks (1st period)

Maxwell was selected in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks in the 6th round as 173rd player. The Seahawks received the draft right in exchange for the defensive back Lawrence Jackson , who was given to the Detroit Lions .

In his first two NFL seasons ( 2011 , 2012 ) Maxwell got a few appearances (nine each), but was not part of the starting lineup.

In the 2013 season , however, he was able to oust Brandon Browner from his position as cornerback and was immediately next to Richard Sherman in the " Legion of Boom ". The Seahawks won both the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XLVIII at the end of that season . In the 2014 season he again reached the Super Bowl ( XLIX ) with the Seahawks , but it was lost to the New England Patriots .

Philadelphia Eagles

On March 10, 2015, Maxwell agreed with the Eagles on a six-year contract for 60 million dollars . After mixed achievements, he was given to the Miami Dolphins after only one year .

Miami Dolphins

On March 7, 2016, the Miami Dolphins agreed on a swap with the Philadelphia Eagles: Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso moved to Miami and the Eagles received a first-round pick in the NFL draft.

On October 24, 2017, Maxwell was released from the Dolphins.

Seattle Seahawks (2nd period)

After injuring their cornerback Richard Sherman , the Seattle Seahawks signed free agent Maxwell for the second time on November 13, 2017, giving him a one-year contract. His contract was extended for another year before the 2018 season. Despite the extension, he was released before the regular season started.
