William Percival "Percy" Harvin (born May 28, 1988 in Virginia Beach , Virginia ) is a retired American American football player on the position of wide receiver . He has also been employed as a return specialist and has played for the Minnesota Vikings , Seattle Seahawks , New York Jets and Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL) throughout his career .

Career

college

Harvin played college football with the Florida Gators at the University of Florida . In his first year, the so-called Freshmen Year , he was named College Freshman of the Year . His team won the BCS National Championship Game , Percy Harvin, who alternately as wide receiver and as a quarterback was used, came on 22 erlaufene yards and a touchdown and caught passes for 60 yards.

After completing his college career, Harvin came to a total of 133 caught balls for 1,929 yards and 13 touchdowns and 1,852 yards and 19 touchdowns. With 32 touchdowns, he holds the record for a wide receiver at the University of Florida.

NFL

Minnesota Vikings

As part of the NFL Combine , Harvin tested positive for marijuana . Nevertheless, the Minnesota Vikings signed the then 20-year-old wide receiver as their first player in the 2009 NFL Draft . He scored his first touchdown directly in the opening game against the Cleveland Browns . As the first player in the Minnesota Vikings, he was able to achieve a touchdown in each of the first three games of the season. At the end of his first season, Harvin posted eight touchdowns, two of them by kickoff returns and an average of nine yards per play. Surprisingly, he was chosen as a kick-returner after his first season in the Pro Bowl . He also received the NFL Rookie of the Year Award .

Seattle Seahawks

On March 11, 2013, Harvin was exchanged for the draft rights in the first and seventh round in the NFL Draft 2013, as well as the draft rights in the third round in the NFL Draft 2014 to the Seattle Seahawks , with whom he won the Super Bowl in the first season ( Super Bowl XLVIII ) won. He himself scored a touchdown after a kickoff return right after the second half kicked off. The Minnesota Vikings signed cornerback Xavier Rhodes and guard Travis Bond with their draft rights in 2013 , as well as running back Jerick McKinnon with their draft rights in 2014 .

New York Jets

Buffalo Bills

Shortly after his contract with the Jets ended, Harvin was hired by the Buffalo Bills for a year . After a promising start to the 2015 season with the Bills , Harvin was again struggling with injury problems and was moved to the reserve ("Injury Reserve") after eight match days, which ended this season early for him.

After the 2015 season, he ended his career at the age of 27.

In November 2016, he announced his comeback with the Buffalo Bills. After the 2016 season , he announced his retirement.

In October 2019, he stated that he had been drugged at all of his NFL games. Quote: “There's not a game I played in that I wasn't high”.
