Bruce Pernell Irvin, Jr. (* 1. November 1987 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American American football poker players in the position of defensive end (formerly Outside Linebacker ). He currently plays for the Carolina Panthers in the National Football League (NFL). In the 2012 NFL Draft he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks as the 15th player. After the 2013 season , he won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks .
college
Before Irvin joined West Virginia University (WVU) in 2010 , he played at two other colleges. He started at Butler Community College , from where he moved to Mt. San Antonio College.
NFL
Seattle Seahawks
Irvin was selected as the 15th player by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft on April 26th . He was the highest drafted player of the WVU since Adam Jones 2005. On May 9th, he signed a four-year contract for a guaranteed $ 9.342 million and a signing bonus of over 5 million. He was the first of the 32 first round picks to sign a contract with his team.
In 2013 he came under fire when he was convicted of doping, for which the NFL banned him for four games. That same year, the Seahawks retrained Irvin from a defensive end to the position of linebacker. That same season, Irvin won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Seahawks .
In 2014 he played 15 games as a starter and scored a total of two touchdowns. In Super Bowl XLIX , he was banned from play for the last 20 seconds after starting a brawl with Rob Gronkowski for which he was fined $ 10,000. He was the first player to be sent off at a Super Bowl.
Oakland Raiders
On March 9, 2016, the Oakland Raiders sign Bruce Irvin. His four-year contract is valued at $ 37 million. In his first season with the Raiders, he scored 57 tackles, seven sacks and six forced fumbles. In 2017 , he scored 58 tackles, eight sacks and four forced fumbles. For the 2018 season he should be used again as a defensive end . However, in early November 2018, the Raiders released Irvin.
Atlanta Falcons
On November 7, 2018, Irvin signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons. Here he played eight games, three from the start, scoring 3.5 sacks.
Carolina Panthers
On March 19, 2019, Bruce Irvin signed a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers .
