Stephen Theodore "Steven" Hauschka (born June 29, 1985 in Needham , Massachusetts ) is an American American football player on the position of the kicker . He last played for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Before moving to North Carolina State University , Hauschka earned a BA in Neuroscience from Middlebury College . There he was on the university's soccer team until 2003.

During his time at North Carolina State University, he was the kicker on the university's football team until his NFL debut in 2008.

NFL

Minnesota Vikings

In 2008 he received a contract with the Minnesota Vikings , but where he could not prevail against the then kicker Ryan Longwell .

Baltimore Ravens

After being kicked out by the Vikings in the same year, he was put under contract by the Baltimore Ravens . There he shared the kick work with kicker Matt Stover and was able to oust him at the beginning of the following season.

In the 2009 season he managed 9 of 13 field goal attempts (69.2%), but was dismissed by the Ravens on November 17, 2009 after his fourth field goal missed .

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons then gave Hauschka a short-term contract for the rest of the season because their kicker Matt Bryant was injured. He was not used in the last game of the season, however, as Bryant was ready for action.

Detroit Lions

In the following offseason in 2010 he was only Jason Hanson's injury substitute for the Detroit Lions and was released after the latter's recovery before the regular season .

Las Vegas Locomotives

Hauschka was signed to the Las Vegas Locomotives of the United Football League (UFL) in October 2010 and won the UFL with them.

Denver Broncos

After his good performance in the UFL, he was used again in December 2010 as an injury substitute in the NFL, this time for Matt Prater in the Denver Broncos . But even after this season and the return of Matt Prater, he was released in September 2011.

Seattle Seahawks

Following his release from the Denver Broncos, he got a contract with the Seattle Seahawks in September for the 2011 season . With the Seahawks he became a regular kicker and was twice NFC champion with the team ( 2013 , 2014 ) and won the Super Bowl once ( XLVIII ).

His last contract renewal was on March 17, 2014. He signed a three-year contract.

Buffalo Bills

On March 9, 2017, Hauschka signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills . At the end of August 2020, he was fired from the Bills. In his three seasons for the Bills, he had scored 73 of 89 (82%) of his field goals and 96.6% of the extra points
