François Dominique Lesné (* 1722 , † 1800 ) was a French surgeon , maître en chirurgie and member of the Société de Médecine de Paris , which was founded in 1796.

Live and act

The French surgeon and anatomist Jean-Louis Petit worked for twelve years on a work Traité des maladies chirurgicales et des opérations qui leur conviennent on surgical diseases, which, however, was not completed and published until 1790 by François Dominique Lesné.

When Denis Diderot died at lunch on Saturday, July 31, 1784, Lesné carried out the autopsy the following day. He found an enlarged liver, an enlarged heart and a left-sided pleural effusion, as well as pronounced edema.
