Maria Schanda (born November 30, 1910 in Großrußbach , Austria-Hungary , † after 1970) was an Austrian actress.

Life

Maria Schanda received her first theater engagement in 1930/31 at the Deutsches Theater in Mährisch-Ostrau . This was followed by appearances at the Prussian State Theater in Berlin (1932/33) and at the municipal theaters in Cologne. During this time she also made her film debut: In 1933, Schanda appeared as a singer in the feature film Schleppzug M 17, directed by Heinrich George , performing the chanson “Is it really true?” In a bar. After this brief foray into the film business, she returned to the theater. In 1934/35 she was permanently engaged at the Schauspielhaus Zurich . From 1939 to 1942 she was a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Prague. This was followed by appearances at various Berlin theaters and at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich. After the war, the actress appeared alternately on stages in Berlin, Zurich and Hamburg. In the 1950s, she appeared again in front of the camera, starred in the thriller 12:15, room 9 and in the drama It happened under the midnight sun with. In 1965/66 she appeared for the last time at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg . Until the early 1970s she was seen in several television productions. After that, their track is lost. Nothing is known about Schanda's further life.
