You mustn't be silent any longer is a German melodrama by RA Stemmle from 1955. Heidemarie Hatheyer , Wilhelm Borchert , Ingrid Andree and Werner Hinz play the leading roles . The story is based on the novel "Morning of Life" (1929) by Kristmann Guðmundsson .
action
Somewhere in rural Scandinavia. The energetic and solid fisherman Haldor and the down-to-earth and somewhat bitter Salvör live in a small village by the sea. Both weddings are imminent. When he is once again at sea, a heavy tower pops up and Haldor lands with his fishing boat on a small island. There Haldor, after seeking protection and refuge, met the still very young maiden Maria, a simple, pretty peasant girl. Both fall in love suddenly and spend a night together. Then Haldor drives back to his future wife. When he learns that Maria became pregnant by him, he takes responsibility for the pregnant girl and brings her to him. Angry and bitter, Salvör leaves Haldor and marries another man, the also much older, wealthy businessman Samuelsen. Maria dies giving birth to her and Haldor's child.
The years go by. Two decades later, the young Gunna, Maria's and Haldor's daughter, and Ragnar, the son of Haldor's illegitimate relationship with Salvör, meet. Both do not know about their family relationship. It comes as it has to: the young people fall in love with each other. Haldor learns with horror from Salvör that Ragnar is also his own flesh and blood. For the old fisherman it is perfectly clear that there must be no love between his two children, the half-siblings. There is a dramatic breakup. One day Halldor gets caught in another severe storm on the high seas, but this time with a fatal outcome. Before he drowns in the roaring waters, he still manages to save the life of his little-known son Ragnar. In the face of his death, Salvör is reconciled with her life's fate and even shows himself ready to take Gunna, who had become an orphan, in place of her mother and her husband Samuelsen.
