Life

After the Second World War , Solveig Thomas received her first stage engagement at the renowned Vienna Burgtheater , in whose ensemble she remained until 1949. This was followed by two years at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , an interlude at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt am Main from 1951 to 1953 , two further seasons at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and from 1955 a long-term engagement at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg . During this time she embodied numerous classic stage roles such as Ophelia in William Shakespeare's Hamlet 1949 in Düsseldorf, Käthchen von Heilbronn in Heinrich von Kleist 's play of the same name and Thekla in Friedrich Schiller's Wallenstein's camp in Frankfurt in 1953, the title role in Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's Emilia Galotti and Marei in Gerhart Hauptmann's Florian Geyer in 1954 in Düsseldorf as well as more modern dramatic characters such as Alma in Frank Wedekind's King Nicolo and Lizzie in N. Richard Nash's Der Regenmacher 1955 in Hamburg.

In addition, she worked extensively as a speaker for radio play productions. Here, too, she lent her voice to various classic stage and fictional characters such as Charlotte Brontës Jane Eyre , Friedrich Hebbels Julia and Alison in John Osborne's look back in anger . In addition, she took on parts in children's radio plays such as 1972 as Aquarius woman in the adaptation of Otfried Preussler's Der kleine Wassermann for Phonogram GmbH.
