NFL

Sweezy were not given a high chance of being selected in the NFL Draft . The trainer of the offensive line of the Seahawks, Tom Cable , thought much of Sweezy, whereupon - after consultation with other responsible persons - Sweezy was selected in the seventh round of the draft. This brought him into a team with his former teammate Russell Wilson .

Sweezy was retrained from defensive lineman to offensive guard after his engagement . In his first season he was in a total of 13 games, including three as a starter, where he replaced John Moffitt . In his second season he started in 13 games of the regular season and in all games of the play-offs . The Seahawks closed the season with victory in Super Bowl XLVIII . The 2014 season was the first season he was used as a starter in every game. Sweezy and the Seahawks became National Football Conference (NFC) champions, but lost the Super Bowl XLIX to the New England Patriots .

Sweezy blocks an Oakland Raiders (2013) player.

On March 9, 2016, Sweezy signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . However, he missed the entire season as he recovered from surgery. In 2017 , Sweezy was the Buccaneers' only offensive lineman to play every offensive snap before sustaining a leg injury on Matchday 15. On December 20, 2017, he was therefore placed on the Injured Reserve List. On June 29, 2018, Sweezy was released from the Buccaneers.

On August 1, 2018, Sweezy was re-signed by the Seattle Seahawks.

On March 15, 2019, he signed a two-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
