Walter Riley Thurmond III (* 12. August 1987 in Los Angeles , California ) is a former American American football player at the position of the cornerbacks and safeties . He played for the Seattle Seahawks , New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL) from 2010 to 2015 . With the Seahawks, he won Super Bowl XLVIII .

NFL

Seattle Seahawks

Thurmond was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft and signed a contract on June 17, 2010. He replaced Kelly Jennings as cornerback .

On October 24, 2011, Thurmond suffered a broken fibula and ankle sprain, which ended the season for him. On November 24, 2013, the NFL banned him for doping for four games.

New York Giants

Thurmond was signed on March 16, 2014 by the New York Giants . On September 15, 2014 Thurmond injured his chest , which is why he was out for the rest of the season.

Philadelphia Eagles

On March 11, 2015, Thurmond signed for a year with the Philadelphia Eagles . During the off-season , Thurmond switched to the position of safety. Despite receiving a new contract offer after the season, he decided to end his career at the age of 28.
