NFL
Kamara was selected by the New Orleans Saints as the 67th overall player in the 3rd round in the 2017 NFL Draft . The Saints got the pick earlier by the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a pick of the 7th round and a second-round pick of the draft, the following year.
2017
In his 2017 rookie season , Kamara was used in many ways right from the start. He was used in the running game as well as in the passing game and in the special teams as a kick returner .
On game day 9 he came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a total of 152 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns and was nominated for two awards, the NFL Player of the Week and the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week . He won the latter award on matchday four against the Miami Dolphins as part of the NFL International Series in London . Kamara's statistics were 96 yards and a touchdown behind the performance of the 9th game day, but he was able to prevail against his fellow nominees due to sympathy for the prize chosen by fans. Kamara won both nominations of the 9th match day. On the following 10th matchday he was able to win the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award again with 106, i.e. for the first time over 100 yards and a touchdown , and was honored for the third time during the current season. After match days 11 and 12, he won this award again, for the third and fourth time in a row and for the fourth and fifth time in total.
He was named Rookie of the Month for November 2017 and won the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week award in Week 13 for the fifth consecutive year and sixth overall.
Kamara was elected to the Pro Bowl in his rookie season and made it together with teammate Mark Ingram junior as the NFL's first running back duo.
In the last game of the regular season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he managed the longest kickoff return in the history of the franchise with 106 yards for a touchdown . With this touchdown and another one from the running game , Kamara was voted Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for the seventh time in the last week of the regular season .
Kamara reached the play-offs with the Saints in his rookie season . Although they were eliminated in the Divisional Round , but Kamara was able to achieve a touchdown in each of his first two play-off games.
After his rookie season Kamara was both by the fans for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year including from the Associated Press for the Year rookie offensive player selected.
2018
Since running back team-mate Mark Ingram was suspended for the first four games of the regular season of the 2018 season , Kamara was the clear and only starter at the Saints in this position. Kamara showed very strong games and was able to consolidate his position in the team even after his strong rookie season.
After Ingram's return, Kamara took on a role similar to that in his rookie season, but continued to confirm his very good performances.
Despite his constant performances again, Kamara was initially not elected to the Pro Bowl this season , as Todd Gurley , Ezekiel Elliott and Giants rookie Saquon Barkley simply couldn't get past this year . But after Gurley took part in Super Bowl LIII with the Rams , Kamara was ranked in the Pro Bowl.
