Christian Heinrich Ewald von Busse (born September 19, 1776 in Wengeln, Lüben district , † September 27, 1852 in Neisse ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were Christian Daniel von Busse (1746-1816) and his wife Juliane Beate Sophie, née von Schickfus (1746-1816). His father was lord of Neuguth, Wengeln and Mühlheide as well as state elder and march commissioner of the Sprotteau district as well as first chamber director in Silesia . His brother Maximilian von Busse (1783–1864) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Career

Busse visited the Berlin Cadet House and was employed on February 1, 1793 as a private corporal in the "von Wolfframsdorff" infantry regiment of the Prussian Army . At the beginning of August 1794 he was promoted to secondary lieutenant and took part in the siege of Mainz and the fighting near Kaiserslautern , Pirmasens , Kreuznach , Zweibrücken and Frankfurt am Main during the First Coalition War. In 1802 he became adjutant of the grenadier battalion "von Schack", which consisted of the grenadier companies of the regiments "von Stockhausen" and "von Graevenitz" . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was wounded. Busse managed to evade captivity and to flee to Silesia. After the Peace of Tilsit , he initially worked as a farmer.

During the campaign against Russia he returned to the army in 1812 and became a train officer in the Prussian mobile auxiliary corps. After the retreat, General von Bülow brought him to a reserve battalion established in Elbing , where he was employed on March 1, 1813. Busse came to the 1st Reserve Infantry Regiment as a staff captain on July 1, 1813, and rose to captain and company commander at the end of October 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation he received a commendation for the battle near Luckau . He was wounded in the Battle of Hagelberg and awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. He was also at the sieges of Wittenberg, Torgau and Landau.

On April 5, 1816, he became a major and battalion commander. On June 19, 1819 he was appointed President of the Examination Committee of the Division School of the 13th Infantry Regiment. In 1829 he suffered a stroke that left his left thigh slightly paralyzed. On March 30, 1832 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on March 30, 1834 to colonel . At the same time, Busse was initially commissioned to lead the 16th Infantry Regiment and one year later he was appointed regiment commander. On October 17, 1836 he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class. Busse felt no longer up to the efforts of a ministry. Therefore, he took on 16 March 1839 awarding of the character as a major general with board his farewell . He died on September 27, 1852 in Neisse.

He married the merchant's daughter Theodora Wilhelmine Hellwig (1783–1848) on August 10, 1801 in Rawitsch. The couple had several children:
