Maximilian von Busse

Rudolf Maximilian von Busse (born July 29, 1783 in Herrnlauersitz , Guhrau district , † May 2, 1864 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Maximilian was a son of Christian Daniel von Busse (1746-1816) and his wife Juliane Beate Sophie, born von Schickfus (1746-1816). His father was a gentleman on Neuguth, Wengeln and Mühlheide and country elder and march commissioner of the county Sprottau and the first chamber director in Silesia. Major General Ewald von Busse (1776-1852) was his brother.

Military career

On March 1, 1797, Busse joined the fusilier battalion "von Pelet" of the Prussian Army as a corporal corporal and was promoted to second lieutenant until mid-June 1800 . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the battle near Saalfeld and was wounded in the left arm in the Battle of Jena . But he managed to make his way to Danzig , where he took part in the defense of the city. He then fought in combat with Prussian Stargard. After the Treaty of Tilsit , Busse became Lieutenant Prime Minister on November 5, 1807 with a patent on June 8, 1807 . On December 20, 1808 but he received his farewell and end of August 1811 the character as a staff captain .

With the start of the Wars of Liberation , on March 4, 1813, Busse was assigned to the 11th Reserve Battalion of the 2nd Silesian Infantry Regiment . On July 1, 1813, he was transferred to the 11th Reserve Infantry Regiment and rose to captain and company commander in mid-September 1813 . During the war he took part in the fighting near Dresden , Leipzig , Vigny and Waterloo as well as the sieges of Erfurt, Philippeville, Mezieres, Langwy and the blockade of Givet. For Kulm he received the Iron Cross II Class and for Ligny the Cross I Class and the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class.

On March 11, 1836, he was first transferred to Magdeburg as second in command and on March 30, 1837, he was appointed commandant of Wittenberg. In this position he was promoted to major general on September 10, 1840, and on September 23, 1844, he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves, and on May 6, 1847, an allowance of 500 thalers. When King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Visited Wittenberg in 1845, he spent the night in the general's house. This took his leave on May 13, 1848 with the character of lieutenant general and statutory pension. He died on May 2, 1864 in Görlitz.
