Todd Gurley II (* 3. August 1994 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American American football poker players in the position of running backs . He played for the St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League (NFL) from 2015 to 2019 and played college football for the University of Georgia . In the 2015 NFL Draft , Gurley was selected as the tenth player by the St. Louis Rams .
Early years
Gurley was a student at Tarboro High School in Tarboro , North Carolina , where he practiced football, track and field, and basketball . He played in his junior year as a running back and defensive back and ran for 1,472 yards and 26 touchdowns and recorded 79 tackles , one interception and forced a fumble . As a senior , the Associated Press named him 2011 Player of the Year after scoring 2,600 yards and 38 touchdowns. He was voted four-star talent and fourth-best running back of his year by Rivals.com.
Gurley was also an outstanding sprinter and hurdler and represented the USA at the 2011 World Youth Athletics Championships , where he finished third in the run-up to the 110m hurdles and set his personal best of 13.66 seconds. Overall, he finished the tournament in 15th place. His personal best in the 100m sprint was 10.7 seconds.
college
From 2012 to 2014 Gurley played college football at the University of Georgia . In his first game, he ran eight attempts for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns and returned a kickoff over 100 yards for another touchdown. With this performance he had secured the regular place and played in 12 of 14 games, where he ran 1,385 yards and 17 touchdowns. Together with today's running back of the Jacksonville Jaguars , TJ Yeldon , he was the only freshman running back to be elected to the All- SEC First Team. In 2013 he ran in ten games for 989 yards and ten touchdowns. On October 9, 2014, he was suspended from the University of Georgia for asking for money to sign autographs , earning approximately $ 3,000 in breach of NCAA rules. His initially unlimited suspension was later reduced to four games. In the first game after the suspension he tore his anterior cruciate ligament against Auburn , he had to end his junior season prematurely with 911 yards and nine touchdowns.

St. Louis / Los Angeles Rams
2015
Gurley was in the NFL Draft in 2015 as the tenth player from the St. Louis Rams selected and signed a four-year contract for 13.8 million US dollars . Due to his cruciate ligament injury, he missed much of the preparation and had his first appearance in the NFL only on matchday three against the Pittsburgh Steelers . His debut on the grid came a week later when he ran 146 yards in 19 tries against the Arizona Cardinals . On game day seven, he scored his first two NFL touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns . This season he ran a total of 1,106 yards of space and scored ten touchdowns, for which he was voted into the Pro Bowl and received the award for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year . At the end of his rookie season, the Rams moved to Los Angeles .
2016
In the 2016 season Gurley could not quite build on his performances of the rookie season. He had a total of 885 yards and 6 touchdowns in 278 runs, although, unlike in the 2015 season, he was the start player in every game of the regular season .
2017
Gurley ran 1,304 yards in 2017 . He led the NFL until the penultimate game day. Since he was spared on the last day of the playoffs, for which the Rams qualified as division winners, Kareem Hunt of the Kansas City Chiefs could overtake him, which is why Gurley only ran the second most yards of the league.
Gurley was named the season's best attacking player of the season and won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award .
2018
On July 24, 2018, Gurley and the Rams agreed to extend the contract for a further four years. This contract brings him $ 60 million with a $ 45 million guarantee. This is the highest guaranteed amount for a running back in NFL history to date.
In week 6 of the 2018 season - and again later in week 12 - he received the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award . This was preceded by a strong 208 yards in the narrow 23:20 success over the Denver Broncos - career record to date. In October 2018 he ran 462 yards, scored seven touchdowns and a further 157 yards of space through a total of 16 trapped passes. The reward was the award for NFC Offensive Player of the Month . With his 17-yard touchdown run in week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks (36:31 win), he reached a new franchise record; he has scored at least one touchdown in 13 consecutive games. He was also only the fourth player in NFL history to score a touchdown in each of his team's first 10 games.
Because of a knee injury, he was spared in the last two regular season games; Nevertheless, the LA Rams won the division title with a score of 13: 3 without him. The knee complaints later than arthritis were diagnosed, meant that he in the playoffs and in particular in with 3:13 against the New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl LIII was unable to build more to this strong performance.
At the end of the season there was the third appointment to the Pro Bowl and the second to the First Team All-Pro.
2020
The Rams released Gurley on March 19, 2020. The next day, he agreed on a one-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons . Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Gurley was unable to complete a medical check for the time being, so the obligation was only unofficial for the time being. On April 6, 2020, the Atlanta Falcons officially reached an agreement with Gurley.
