The newspaper was awarded the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of Hurricane Katrina . Four employees were also awarded the Pulitzer Prize for rush reporting related to the hurricane. Times-Picayune sponsors the annual Edgar A. Poe Memorial Award for Outstanding Journalism, which is presented by the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) .
