John Robert Hekker (* 8. February 1990 in Redmond , Washington ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the punters . He plays for the Los Angeles Rams in the National Football League (NFL).

college

Hekker attended Oregon State University and played college football for their team, the Beavers, from 2006 to 2008 . As a punter he holds numerous school records, he was also used as a holder .

NFL

In the NFL Draft 2012 he was not taken into account, but was then hired by the St. Louis Rams as a free agent . Hekker was already used as the sole punter in his rookie season . In his only fourth game he threw a trick play on Danny Amendola , who scored a touchdown .

In 2014, the Rams signed him on a six-year contract worth $ 18 million , of which $ 9 million was guaranteed, making him the highest-paid punter of all time.

For his consistently good performance, he has been appointed to the Pro Bowl four times so far .

On February 3, 2019, he scored 65 yards in Super Bowl LIII , which the Los Angeles Rams lost to the New England Patriots, the longest punt in Super Bowl history.
