Lorenzo John Alexander (* 31 May 1983 in Oakland , California ) is a former American American football poker players on the position of the defensive tackles and linebackers . He played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins , the Arizona Cardinals , the Oakland Raiders and the Buffalo Bills .

college

Alexander attended the University of California, Berkeley and played for their team, the Golden Bears, as a successful defensive tackle college football . In total, he was able to set 110 tackles and score 4.5 sacks .

NFL

Carolina Panthers

Alexander's professional career got off to a slow start. In the 2005 NFL Draft , he was not considered, but was later signed by the Carolina Panthers as a free agent . He only made it into the Practice Squad and was released after a year.

Baltimore Ravens

He was also signed by the Baltimore Ravens for their Practice Squad, but already retired after five days.

Washington Redskins

He ended up with the Washington Redskins, but had to spend a season in the Practice Squad there too. In 2007 he finally got his first job as a professional. He was called up in the special teams , in the defensive and also in the offensive line . In 2010 he was converted into a linebacker and received significantly more playing time. He even appeared as a starter 12 times . He was also elected by his teammates as one of the two captains of the special teams. In 2013 he was appointed to the Pro Bowl as a special teamer.

Arizona Cardinals

In 2013 he moved to the Arizona Cardinals . His first season for the new team was over after three games due to an injury to the metatarsal bone . In 2014 he was mainly used in the special teams.

Oakland Raiders

In 2015 he played for one season for the Oakland Raiders , with a total of 13 tackles.

Buffalo Bills

In 2016 he moved to the Buffalo Bills and was used as a starting linebacker. He thanked his team with his best performance of the season so far. He was able to set 76 tackles and achieve 12.5 sacks, which earned him his second appointment to the Pro Bowl, where he was ultimately even recognized as a defensive MVP . After the elimination of the Bills from the play-offs of the 2019 season , Alexander announced his resignation.
