Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles

Reid with the Eagles

Reid joined the Philadelphia Eagles on January 11, 1999 as head coach . The move was criticized by the critical sports fans in Philadelphia , as better-known names were traded for the post.

The 1999 season closed the team with five wins and eleven defeats. But already in 2000 he reached the play-offs with the Eagles with a score of 11: 5. Over the next four years, 2001 , 2002 , 2003 and 2004 , the Eagles finished the season as champions of the NFC East and qualified for the play-offs. In 2004 he made it to Super Bowl XXXIX with them , but failed at 21:24 at the New England Patriots . In addition, he was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2002.

The 2005 season did not go so well . In particular, the problems surrounding and the subsequent departure of Terrell Owens during the season contributed to the Eagles suffering an unexpected slump in the middle of the season. Quarterback Donovan McNabb was also injured . The Eagles finished the season with a record of 6:10 in the last place of the NFC East. He experienced a true roller coaster ride with the Eagles in 2006 . After the play-offs were already considered unreachable and quarterback McNabb was injured again, the season seemed to be over. However, Reid managed to reach the play-offs with replacement quarterback Jeff Garcia .

After a weak 2007 season , the Eagles came back to the play-offs in 2008 despite a rather poor record (9: 6: 1). After two wins, however, they lost in the NFC Championship Game against the Arizona Cardinals . This was Reid's fourth loss in the fifth championship game with the Eagles. In the following two years, Reid was able to reach the playoffs with the Eagles, but failed in the wild card round. After narrowly missing out on the playoffs in the 2011 season, the Eagles lost twelve games in just four wins in 2012 and were last in the NFC East. After the season, Reid was fired from the Eagles.

Coach of the Kansas City Chiefs

On January 4, 2013, Reid became head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs . He signed a five-year contract there.

Reid started the new season well with the Chiefs, who won just two games the previous season, and remained unbeaten in the first nine games. Kansas City ended the 2013 season with eleven wins from five losses and moved into the play-offs. In the wildcard game they faced the Indianapolis Colts . Despite leading at halftime, they gave up the game and lost just 44:45.

In the 2015 season he brought the Chiefs again with a score of 11: 5 in the play-offs, in which they were in the Divisional Round , after beating the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Game (30: 0), the New England Patriots (20:27) had to give up.

In the 2016 season he moved with Kansas City this time as the number 2 seeded team in the play-offs. There they had to admit defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers 16:18 without allowing a touchdown .

For the third time in a row, Andy Reid was able to move into the play-offs with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 season , in which they had to admit defeat for the third time in the first game of the postseason. They lost just under 21:22 against the Tennessee Titans . After the game, he had to put up with several allegations in which he was accused of poor time management in play-off games.

In the following season he coached the Chiefs again in the play-offs. With a score of 12: 4, he moved with the Chiefs to the AFC Championship Game one in which they are first in the overtime had to admit defeat to the New England Patriots with 31:37.

In the 2019 season Andy Reid moved with Kansas City after previous victories over the Houston Texans (51:31) and the Tennessee Titans (35:24) in the Super Bowl ( LIV ), which they beat the San Francisco with 31:20 49ers won. It was the second Super Bowl victory in the Chiefs' history.
