Harrison Butker (* 14. July 1995 in Decatur , Georgia ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the Kickers . He played college football for Georgia Tech and has been with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL) since 2017 .

High school and college

Butker attended Westminster High School in Atlanta , Georgia , where he first played soccer. With the soccer team he won the state championship three times. From his sophomore year of high school, he also played American football as a kicker and punter . He set a new record for the longest field goal at his high school with a field goal from 53 yards and a record for the most hits in a season with 16 field goals.

College Butker (2014)

From 2013 to 2016, he played college football for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the NCAA Division I FBS. There he played every four years as a starter and hit 71.7% of his field goal attempts and 99% of all extra point attempts . He was particularly convincing in his last season, in which he hit 88.2% of all field goal attempts.

NFL

Butker was selected 233rd by the Carolina Panthers in the 7th round of the 2017 NFL Draft . In the Panthers he competed with the more experienced Graham Gano for the position as a kicker. After both players were initially in the squad, Butker was dismissed without use in the regular season after the first game of the season, in which Gano successfully completed all his attempts, to make room in the squad for another player. He was then accepted into the Panthers Practice Squad . On September 26, the Kansas City Chiefs Butker signed after their kicker Cairo Santos was injured. With 38 field goals (out of 42 attempts) in his first season, Butker set a new franchise record for most field goals in a season. In addition, no kicker in the NFL has met more often in their rookie season.

In the 2018 AFC Championship Game , he brought the Chiefs into overtime with a 39-yard field goal. In June 2019, Butker signed a five-year contract extension to 2024 for $ 20 million with the Chiefs. In the 2019 season , Butker and the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers .
