Miriam Hadar Weingarten (* 1937 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli journalist .

Life

Hadar served in the Israeli Air Force.

She studied law at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem .

In 1958 she was elected Miss Israel . As such, she took part in the Miss Universe election and reached the semifinals. After the competition she got a film offer from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer , but turned it down.

She has attended lectures on Israel across the United States and raises money for Israel and Jewish organizations.

As a journalist she worked at Maariw and Haaretz . Among other things, she reported on the Yom Kippur War and interviewed many prime ministers and important personalities.

She married a Texas businessman and moved with him to Houston . They had two children. After divorcing him, she returned to Israel and studied film at Tel Aviv University .

She directed a documentary about Israel at the Berlin International Film Festival .

She remarried the politician Akiva Nof and gave birth to a daughter.
