Marcus Peters (* 9. January 1993 in Oakland , California ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the cornerbacks . He played college football for the University of Washington , was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft , and is currently under contract with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL).

Early years

Peters attended McClymonds High School in Oakland, California, where he played football. He played as cornerback for coach Curtis McCauley. As a senior, he reached seven interceptions and scored six touchdowns after kick or punt returns. He also played as a wide receiver and kicker . He was named the Oakland Athletic League MVP when he led his school to a 12-0 season record, the school's first "perfect season". In January 2011, he decided to play football for the University of Washington.

college

As a freshman in 2012, Peters started eight of the 13 games. He made 44 tackles, three interceptions and one touchdown. As a college student in 2013, he started 12 of 13 games and had five interceptions, 55 tackles, and one sack. As a junior, Peters was suspended a game in 2014 after a "sideline tantrum". He was later fired from the team on disciplinary grounds.

2015

Peters was selected 18th by the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL Draft on April 30, 2015. On September 13, 2015, he came to his first professional appearance in the season opening game against the Houston Texans , in which he caught his first interception in the NFL against Brian Hoyer . In the second game, he intercepted a pass from Peyton Manning and carried him to a 55-yard touchdown in the end zone. Peters caught his third interception of the year in the game against the Minnesota Vikings for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in week 6. In week 10, Peters caught his fourth interception of the year in the second game against Peyton Manning. He later intercepted a pass from Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr in front of his family in his hometown . He had two interceptions against the Baltimore Ravens , including one he wore to the touchdown. On December 22nd, 2015 it was announced that Peters would be part of the Pro Bowl 2016 . Peters was one of three rookies voted into the Pro Bowl, along with St. Louis Rams running back Todd Gurley and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and kick and punt returner Tyler Lockett . During his rookie season in 2015, Peters started in all 16 games and caught eight interceptions , two of which he brought into the end zone for a touchdown. A forced fumble , 26 defended passes and 60 tackles were his stats after the regular season. For this he received the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award .

2016

In 2016, Peters was elected to the Pro Bowl for the second time in as many years for his good performance during the season .

2017

In the 13th week of the 2017 season , Peters threw a penalty flag in the spectator stands out of anger over a referee decision and was then suspended from a game by the Kansas City Chiefs. In the first game after his suspension, he caught two interceptions, caused a forced fumble and had three tackles. He then received the honor of AFC Defensive Player of the Week .

Los Angeles Rams

In February 2018, Peters was transferred from the Chiefs to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a pick from the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft and one from the second round of the 2019 Draft .

Baltimore Ravens

On October 15, 2019, after six game days, Peters moved to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for linebacker Kenny Young and a pick in the 2020 NFL Draft .

Peters is a friend of Marshawn Lynch who acts as a mentor to Peters.
