Derek Carr Dallas (* 28. March 1991 in Fresno , California ) is an American American football player at the position of quarterback . He plays for the Las Vegas Raiders in the National Football League (NFL).

Derek Carr was born on March 28, 1991 in Fresno, California, the youngest of three sons to Rodger and Sheryl Carr. His brother David Carr also played quarterback for Fresno State and was selected in the 2002 NFL Draft by the newly formed Houston Texans as the first player . His brother Darren Carr played as a defensive lineman for the University of Houston . Her uncle Lon Boyett also played in the NFL.

After David Carr was signed by the Texans, the family moved from California to Sugar Land , Texas , where Derek Carr played football at Clements High School. Before his senior year of high school , the family moved back to Bakersfield , where he played football for Bakersfield Christian High School.

college

Derek Carr, like his older brother David, played college football for Fresno State . He was not used for the first two years in college . In the three years he played as starting quarterback for his college, he scored 12,843 yards in passing and 113 touchdowns . He wears jersey number 4 in honor of the achievements of his role model , Brett Favre .

NFL

The Oakland Raiders selected Derek Carr as the 36th player in the 2014 NFL Draft in the second round. During the training camp, Carr prevailed against Matt Schaub and was used as starting quarterback in the first game of the regular season of his rookie season . He was the first rookie to play the first game of the season as a starting quarterback for the Raiders. He ended the season with a new high for rookie quarterbacks for the Oakland Raiders, with 3,270 yards in the passing game .

In 2015 he improved and led his team, after only three wins in the previous year, to seven wins and nine losses when he threw for 3,987 yards and 32 touchdowns at 13 interceptions . He was promoted to the Pro Bowl alternative, and when Aaron Rodgers turned down, he was eventually promoted to contestant.

In 2016, Carr led his team into the play-offs for the first time in his career. He threw for 3,933 yards and 28 touchdowns with only 6 interceptions. In week 16, however, Carr was seriously injured and therefore missed the last game of the regular season and the games in the play-offs. Due to his good performance during the season, Carr was nominated for the Pro Bowl in 2016, but was unable to participate due to his injury.

After his final season in college, Carr was awarded the Sammy Baugh Trophy . In his rookie season, he scored the most yards (3,270) in passing that a rookie quarterback scored for the Oakland Raiders.

Private

Derek Carr has been married since June 29, 2012 and has a son with his wife Heather since August 2013. His brother David Carr was also a quarterback and was selected as the first player in the draft in 2002 . David played in the NFL for eleven years, five of them with the Houston Texans .
